Use this screen to customize labels for the user-defined fields in the Vendor table. You can use user-defined labels to enter and track more information about your vendors. These labels are optional, but if there is additional information that you want to capture about a vendor, you can set up labels in this screen.
Validated text labels make it possible to use lookups. You can create these labels in either of the following ways:
Select the Validated Text check box and use the Validated Text block to customize the information that displays when you use lookup on the User-Defined Info subtask of the Manage Vendors screen.
Clear the Validated Text check box and click in the Costpoint Validation Field field to select the Costpoint data table column that will be used for lookup on the User-Defined Info subtask of the Manage Vendors screen.
Although you can set up labels or validated text at any time, for more complete vendor information, set them up before you enter records for any customers.
Enter the sequence in which you want the labels to display on the User-Defined Info subtask of the Manage Vendors screen. Two rows cannot have the same sequence number; if they do, you cannot save this screen. Costpoint increments new rows by tens, allowing for insertion of additional rows at a later time.
Use this drop-down list to select the data type allowed on the User-Defined Info subtask of the Manage Vendors screen.
Date — Allows entry of a date only.
Number — Allows entry of a number only.
Text — Allows entry of alphanumeric text. If you enter Y in the Validated Text field, you must select this setting.
Enter text for the label to serve as the default in the Labels field on the User-Defined Info subtask of the Manage Vendors screen.
Enter a short help description that you want to display at the bottom of the screen when you enter data on the User-Defined Info subtask of the Manage Vendors screen.
Click to select a column of an existing Costpoint data table. The items in this column are used as a lookup source on the User-Defined Info subtask of the Manage Vendors screen. You cannot select the Validated Text option when this field is active.
Select this check box if entries made for this label are restricted to specific alphanumeric text. Use the fields in the Validated Text block to create these text items and their descriptions. You cannot use the Costpoint Validation Field for this row when there is a Y (Yes) in this column.
Select this check box if this user-defined information will be a required field for all vendors on the User-Defined Info subtask of the Manage Vendors screen.
Use the fields in this block to set up valid values for each of the validated text labels. For each row that has a Y (Yes) in the Validated Text column, you must set up at least one valid value. If you do not, you cannot enter anything into that row on the User-Defined Info subtask of the Manage Vendors screen.
Enter a value for the user-defined label. You can have as many different values as you need for each different validated text label.
Enter an optional description for each of the text values. This description displays along with the text values when you use the lookup on the User-Defined Info subtask of the Manage Vendors screen.
