Use this screen to map Costpoint charge elements to Cobra charge elements. This screen effectively defines the relationship between the structure of Costpoint projects and the structure of Cobra programs. For example, the project ID in Costpoint might be called the program ID in Cobra. After you enter these relationships in the table window in this screen, they are used by the extraction process to determine how actual costs from Costpoint are grouped for use by Cobra. You can create as many Cobra Charge Templates as necessary. The template ID for a charge template is used in the Manage Cobra Extraction Parameters screen along with other settings and templates in that screen to create a more extensive template used in the extraction process.
You must set up at least one template ID in this screen before you can complete the Configure Cobra Interface Settings screen, in which you can designate a default template. This default is used in the Manage Cobra Extraction Parameters screen but can be changed in that screen as necessary.
Use the fields in this group box to enter the template ID and the template name. Costpoint uses templates to form a relationship between the charge elements of the Cobra program and the charge elements of the Costpoint project.
These templates are used in the Manage Cobra Extraction Parameters screen, in which you can assign specific Costpoint projects or Cobra programs to use specific charge templates, budget element templates, and cost templates during the extraction process. This allows you to customize the relationship between the Cobra program structure and the Costpoint project structure. You can set up as many templates as needed in this screen.
Use this field to enter an identification code for this template.
Use this field to enter a descriptive name for this template ID.
Use the fields in this group box to select a mapping mode. You can select a Cobra program for the mapping or select a manual method. If no database connection is available, only the manual method is available. If a database connection is available, you can use the options in this group box to select a Cobra program structure for use in mapping.
Select this option to use a Cobra program structure to create the template. You must establish a connection to the Cobra database to use this option. The Cobra database connection is established in the Configure Cobra Interface Settings screen.
After you select this option, enter, or click to select a Cobra program. The Cobra program structure automatically defaults into the Cobra Program Info column of the Define Mapping table window. Only the charge elements that have been assigned to this sample cobra program are available and valid in the Cobra Key Fields column.
Click this button to automatically load all Cobra elements associated with the selected sample Cobra program in the Define Mapping table window.
Select this option if you do not have a connection to the Cobra database or you want to input Cobra labels and key fields manually. No validation occurs with this method until the extraction process is executed.
Use this table window to define how the key fields in Cobra map to the Costpoint fields. If you selected the Sample Cobra Program option in the Mapping Mode group box, only the Cobra key fields for that program are available in this table window.
If you selected the Sample Cobra Program option in the Mapping Mode group box, the data for this field automatically displays.
If you selected the Manual Mode option in the Mapping Mode group box, use this drop-down list box to select a Cobra program info.

The type of charge element used for each of the program elements above is further defined in the Cobra Key Fields column.
If you selected the Sample Cobra Program option in the Mapping Mode group box, all the key fields related to the specified Cobra program automatically display in this column. Only those elements associated with this Cobra program are valid.
If you selected the Manual Mode option in the Mapping Mode group box, use this field to enter the relevant key fields for the specified Cobra program. These values do not undergo validation.
Use this drop-down list box to select the Costpoint element to which you want to map the Cobra element on this row of the table.
The following table lists the valid Costpoint mapping elements.
Costpoint Mapping Element |
Description |
Project ID |
This element is the transaction project ID that is charged in any transaction screen. The project ID is maintained in the Manage Project User Flow screen. |
Project ID (Less Level 1) |
This element is the transaction project ID less the level one segment. For example, if the transaction projects are 1004.01.001 and 1004.01.02, the project ID (Less Level 1) would be 01.001 and 01.002 respectively. Once the level one element is removed, it is similar to a WBS structure. |
Project Abbreviation |
This element is the project abbreviation that is assigned to the project ID. The project abbreviation is a system-wide unique six-character field that can facilitate data entry. |
Project Cobra UDEF |
This element is the value in the Cobra Mapping Value field in the Manage Project User Flow screen. You can use this field in Costpoint to create an element that can be more easily identified with the Cobra elements. You must identify Costpoint projects as Cobra programs by selecting the Cobra Program check box in the Manage Project User Flow screen and enter a value in the Cobra Mapping Value field to use this method. |
Orgn ID |
This element is the transaction organization ID or the organization ID that is charged in any transaction screen. The organization ID is assigned in the in the Manage Organization Elements screen. |
Orgn Abbrevitaion |
This element is the organization abbreviation associated with the organization ID in the Manage Organization Elements screen. The organization abbreviation is a system-wide element that can be used to facilitate data entry. |
Orgn Cobra UDEF |
This element is the value in the Cobra Mapping Value field in the Manage Organization Elements screen. You can use this field in Costpoint to create an element that can be more easily identified with the Cobra elements. You must enter a value in the Cobra Mapping Value field and select the Cobra Program check box in the Manage Project User Flow screen. |
Project ID / Orgn ID Combo |
This element is a combination of the project ID and organization ID at the transaction level. For example, if the Costpoint project ID is 1004.01.002 and the organization ID is 1.01.005, the combination used for the element link is 1004.01.002/1.01.005. The project ID is set up in the Manage Project User Flow screen and the organization ID is set up in the Manage Organization Elements screen. |
Project ID (Less Level 1) / Orgn ID Combo |
This element is a combination of the project ID (Less Level 1) and the organization ID. For example, if the Costpoint project ID is 1004.01.002 and the organization ID is 1.01.005, the combination used for the element link is 01.002/01.005. The project ID is set up in the Manage Project User Flow screen and the organization ID is set up in the Manage Organization Elements screen. |
