Use this screen to create the tables necessary to generate or edit a statement of cash flows. You must set up the statement of cash flows in the Manage Financial Statements screen before you can run this process for it. After you run this process, you can use the Manage Preliminary Cash Flow Statement screen to change amounts, line descriptions, and sort order.
The statement of cash flows analyzes the sources and uses of cash from the beginning of the year through the accounting period you specify in this screen. It also provides additional information about the operating, investing, and financing activities of your company, on a cash basis and for a particular time period.
Because Costpoint derives the information on the statement of cash flows from posted transactions to balance sheet accounts, generate the statement of cash flows after you close the period and post all outstanding transactions so the statement contains the most accurate data. You should also perform bank reconciliations and all income statement and balance sheet reconciliations before you generate the statement of cash flows.
Use the fields in this block to create a new parameter ID or to retrieve a previously saved parameter ID. A parameter ID represents a set of screen selection parameters. After you have saved a parameter ID and its related parameters, you can retrieve them using Query.
You can use the retrieved parameters to produce reports and run processes more efficiently and with greater consistency. The saved parameters are also useful and necessary when you want to run the process as part of a batch job. Many users save a unique set of parameters for each different way they run a report or process. When you select a previously saved parameter ID or parameter description, the associated saved screen selection parameters automatically display as selection defaults. The page setup and print options are also included in the saved parameter ID if there are any. You can change any of the associated selection defaults as necessary.
Enter, or click to select, a parameter
ID of up to 15 alphanumeric characters. Choose characters for your parameter
ID that help identify the type of selections you made in the screen, such
as PERIOD or QUARTERLY.
When you save your record, all the selections made in the screen are stored with the parameter ID. Later, you can retrieve the parameter using Query.
You can use the parameter to run the process more efficiently because you can select the parameter ID with its previously defined screen selections. After the default selections display in the screen, you can override the defaults.
Enter, or click to select, a parameter
description of up to 30 alphanumeric characters.
Enter, or click to select, the fiscal year for which to create the preliminary statement of cash flows. You can create statements for open or closed years.
Enter, or click to select, the period for which to create the preliminary statement of cash flows. You can create statements for open or closed periods.

Because the statement of cash flows is derived from posted transactions to balance sheet accounts, you must generate both the balance sheet and the statement of cash flows at the same organizational level. As a result, only balance sheet level organizations are valid options. You set up organizational levels on the Manage Organization Structures screen for top-level organizations and on the Manage Organization Elements screen for the remaining organizational levels.
Enter, or click to select, the starting and/or ending organizations for the range of organizations you want to include on this report. One or both of these fields may be disabled, depending on your selection in Option.
To start the process, enter the options you want, click Create Preliminary Cash Flows Statement on the Action menu.
