MANAGE DEFERRED COMPENSATION DEDUCTIONS

Use this screen to link your deduction (and contribution) codes to your deferred compensation plan. A deduction code can belong to only one deferred compensation plan. You can establish up to five deferred compensation plans within Deferred Compensation Admin. You can link all of your deferred compensation plans to your deduction codes (that have a deferred compensation deduction type on the Manage Deductions screen) using this screen. You can set up deduction codes in the Payroll Controls menu.

Location

Table Window

This table displays all the existing deferred compensation deduction codes that are linked to deferred compensation plans. You can modify the list of deduction codes and the associated information as necessary. Click to add a new row.

Deduction

Enter, or click to select, the alphanumeric deduction code to link to the deferred compensation plan. You normally select deduction codes that have been defined in Payroll with a deduction type code of a 401(k) or a 403(b) deferred compensation type. You can link many deduction codes to one plan code; however, a single deduction code can belong to only one plan code.

Description

This field displays the description associated with the deduction code.

Deferred Compensation Plan

Enter, or click to select, the deferred compensation plan code that you want to link to a deduction (or contribution) code. You can link several deduction codes to one deferred compensation plan code; however, you can link each individual deduction code to only one deferred compensation plan code.

Fully Vested

From the drop-down list, select Yes or No to indicate if deduction code you select is a company code and is fully vested to the employee when granted. Fully vested refers to the lack of a waiting period or vesting schedule. Select No for contributions that are tied to a vesting schedule and select Yes for contributions that are fully vested. You can have several contributions of each type (fully vested or not fully vested) linked to one plan code.

Deduction Source Code

Enter a one-character code that identifies the source of this deduction. This field is required if the Financial Institution, such as Vanguard, requires it and the Deduction option on the Manage Deductions screen is selected. Some financial institutions use this code to identify whether this deduction is pre-tax, after-tax, employer matched, and so on.

Contribution Source Code

Enter a one-character code that identifies the source of this contribution. This field is required if the Financial Institution, such as Vanguard, requires it (on the Manage Deferred Compensation Plans screen) and the Contribution option on the Manage Deductions screen is selected.

The Deduction Source Code and Contribution Source Code must match the requirements of your Financial Institution. Financial Institutions are system-defined in Costpoint.
